Stephanie is Connecticut's Democratic nominee for Secretary of the State.
She is a small business owner who has spent three decades advising and problem-solving for nonprofit organizations. In 2020, she was elected to represent Norwalk, Wilton, and Westport as a Representative in Connecticut’s State House, flipping that seat from Republican to Democrat.
As Vice Chair of the Government Administration and Elections Committee, Stephanie sponsored and helped pass a variety of voter-focused bills such as automatic voter registration at state agencies and resolutions to advance early voting and no-excuse absentee ballot voting.
As your next Secretary of the State, Stephanie will use her business and legislative experience, as well as her strong leadership skills, to champion transparency in government, streamline business processes, and strengthen trust in our elections. She will continue her work to make voting more accessible and resist attempts to limit voting rights.
Stephanie is passionate about civic engagement. She is a natural leader and consensus builder, with an insistence that government work for all, whether business owners, voters, consumers, or those often left behind.
Stephanie is no stranger to hard work. She helped support her family financially while in high school, then worked to put herself through NYU, graduating on the Dean’s List, then continued her education with a Masters in Nonprofit Management. She has built a career as a nonprofit strategist and fundraiser, first as President of one of New York’s premier firms and then as founder and owner of her own firm.
Her grandmother started an affordable housing nonprofit in their hometown which still exists to this day. Stephanie's sister is the co-chair of the national housing commission that is working to solve affordable housing. Stephanie is also a former member of my Zoning Commission.
Connecticut deserves an advocate as competent and passionate as Stephanie Thomas as our Secretary of the State. Stephanie commits to meeting as many of our neighbors as possible, to learn about your concerns, and then to work effectively on your behalf.
